Site Philosophy
This site has been set up for those people, world wide, with an interest in genealogy relating to the Bailiwick of Guernsey. This includes the islands of Alderney, Sark, Herm and Jethou.
Over the centuries, the people living in these islands have left our shores to explore new horizons. Records from the 13th century indicate that they were already competent seamen. Since the 16th century at least they have visited and lived in North America.
Since then they have gone to all the corners of the globe. Sometimes they have come back, and at other times they have settled.
It is important for many people who discover that they have roots in these islands to find out more.
It is the intention of this site to assist if possible in the collection and dissemination of information, data, understanding and friendship to all whose roots were buried in our soil.
